PMDD, PCOS & Endometriosis
Specialized management for complex hormonal and inflammatory conditions. We focus on symptom relief and long-term health through evidence-based protocols tailored to your body's specific needs.
What to expect
-
Diagnosis and effective treatment for these conditions often takes some investigation and a bit of trial and error. You can expect:
-
A 50‑minute initial consultation to review your symptoms and any past treatments. We may or may not start a treatment at this visit.
-
If we decide together to order lab tests or imaging, we’ll schedule a 30‑minute follow‑up to review results and adjust or start a treatment plan.
-
Because most hormone‑related medications take up to 3 months to work fully, we’ll plan another visit around the 3‑month mark to check on your progress and make changes if needed.
-
After that, we’ll decide together how often you’d like to be seen if you’re happy with your plan or continue to make adjustments.
Perimenopause/Menopause
Nuanced support through reproductive transitions. We discuss hormonal and non-hormonal options to address hot flashes, mood changes, and bone health, ensuring you feel empowered during this natural phase.
What to expect
-
A 50‑minute initial consultation to discuss your symptoms and which medications or alternative therapies may work best for your experience of menopause. We’ll also talk through the safety profiles of different options.
-
If we decide to order any lab tests or imaging (not required for menopause hormone therapy, but sometimes helpful), we’ll schedule a follow‑up visit a few weeks later to review results and adjust the plan.
-
Because hormone‑related treatments typically take 8–12 weeks to take effect, we’ll see each other again in that time frame for a 30‑minute visit to see what has improved and make adjustments.
-
Depending on your treatment plan, we’ll follow up again in 6–12 months if you’re doing well, or sooner if you’re not satisfied with your current plan.
Gender Affirming Care
Supportive and professional hormone therapy management for gender-diverse individuals. Our care is affirming, professional, and follows the latest medical guidelines for safe and effective transition support.
What to expect
A 50‑minute initial consultation where we review the risks and benefits of hormone therapy, get to know each other, establish your goals for treatment, and make sure the options you’re interested in are safe for you.
Baseline labs ordered at the start, with a plan for 30‑minute follow‑up visits and lab work at 3, 6, and 12 months during the first year.
After the first year, we’ll decide together how often you need follow‑up and support, based on your goals and treatment plan.
If you are already using hormone therapy and are transferring care, we’ll still begin with a 50‑minute consultation, and then tailor a follow‑up schedule based on your current regimen and needs.
Birth Control
Comprehensive counseling on contraceptive options. We help you find the method that fits your lifestyle and health goals, focusing on efficacy, side-effect management, and personal preference.
What to expect
A 30‑minute initial consultation to review your health history and determine which contraceptive methods are safe and appropriate for you. We’ll send an initial prescription during this visit when possible.
Depending on which method you choose, we may schedule a follow‑up visit around the 3‑month mark.
Beyond pills, patches and vaginal rings, Isla is well‑versed in non‑hormonal methods, including FemCap, Caya and Phexx (formerly Phexxi), and offers coaching on Fertility Awareness Methods.
Please note: At this time, we are not able to offer IUD or Nexplanon insertions as we do not have a physical clinic location.
Skin Care - acne, aging & hair loss
Addressing the hormonal roots of dermatological concerns where we can, and providing symptom-based treatment when we can't. We provide medical-grade guidance for adult acne and age-related changes, bridging the gap between hormonal health and physical confidence.
What to expect
-
A 50‑minute initial consultation focused on your skin and/or hair concerns.
-
Depending on your symptoms, we may recommend lab tests to narrow down underlying causes and guide treatment.
-
Treatment plans may include oral or topical prescription medications, nutrient supplementation, and/or over‑the‑counter products.
Our goal is to find an evidence‑based treatment that is effective for you and realistic for your lifestyle.
Heavy/Painful Menses
Investigating and treating the underlying causes of difficult periods. Our goal is to improve your quality of life through targeted medical interventions that reduce pain and normalize cycles.
What to expect
A 50‑minute initial consultation to review your menstrual history and, if relevant, pregnancy history.
Depending on your symptoms, we may recommend lab or imaging studies. In many cases, we can begin treatment before those results are back.
Isla offers both hormonal and non‑hormonal treatment options and tailors the plan to your specific needs and preferences.
Because it can take your body 8–12 weeks to adjust to a new medication, especially in regards to menstrual symptoms, we’ll typically schedule a follow‑up visit in that time frame to see how you’re doing and make any needed changes.
Please note:
Heavier or more frequent bleeding after age 45 often requires a pelvic exam and, at times, an endometrial biopsy to confirm a diagnosis.
We are not currently able to provide these in‑person services because we do not have a physical clinic location.
Low Libido
A safe space to discuss intimate health. Changes in libido can happen at any age, though they often coincide with the menopause transition. Whether it's identifying a medication side effect, offering resources to address the psychosocial impacts on libido, or prescribing a medication, we have many evidence based options to discuss.
What to expect
A 50‑minute initial consultation focused on understanding the possible causes of changes in your libido.
Isla is an active member of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH) and is an active participant in International Society of Sexual Medicine and European Society of Sexual Medicine trainings and events.
If we decide together to order lab tests or start medication, we’ll plan a 30‑minute follow‑up visit after your results, and another visit 8–12 weeks after treatment begins to see how you’re responding.
Ongoing follow‑up will depend on your treatment plan and which medications or approaches you choose.
Sexual health, intimacy and libido are important parts of your overall well‑being and deserve thoughtful, individualized care.
Premature Menopause - before age 40
Expert care for early ovarian insufficiency, and conditions which may mimic menopause. We focus on long-term protection for your heart, bones, and brain, while providing the clinical and emotional support unique to those experiencing symptoms at this young age.
What to expect
-
A 50‑minute initial consultation to review your symptoms and medical history. We’ll order lab tests and, if needed, imaging to look for common causes of menopausal symptoms before age 40 and to diagnose or rule out Primary Ovarian Insufficiency.
-
We’ll also discuss potential treatment options based on what we find.
-
A 30‑minute follow‑up visit about one month later to review your results and create or refine your care plan.
-
If we start hormonal medication, expect another visit 8–12 weeks after the initial prescription to determine if treatment is effective and make adjustments as needed.
Breast Cancer Risk Assessment
Proactive health monitoring based on family history and clinical data. We provide clear, evidence-based screenings and recommendations to help you understand your risk and make a long-term plan for follow up and screening.
What to expect
-
A 50‑minute initial consultation to review your personal and extended family history of cancer and risk factors.
-
Based on your information, we’ll estimate your 5–year and lifetime risk of developing breast cancer and discuss when to begin regular screening and which types of screening may be best for you.
-
Personalized recommendations for lifestyle changes that can help lower your risk.
-
Support in understanding and navigating genetic testing. If testing is recommended, we can order these labs.
-
Depending on your risk scores and screening recommendations, we may refer you to a breast specialist for ongoing care or schedule a follow–up visit with us to review your genetic testing results.
Please note: At this time, we are not able to provide clinical breast exams because we do not have an in–person clinic space.
